Valentines and Mesa Arizona “Snow” !

Hi Everyone, sorry it has been so long between posts, but I have been busy making Valentines…..and enjoying the fact that things are getting a little better every day. But that is another post for another day! :)

I have been having a ball making Valentines to send to some of my friends…..

IMG_2557

I used my Cricut to cut the tags…..I didn’t go with a heart as the cartridge I had I didn’t care for the shape, I know that sounds silly, but these came out fine anyhow…..

I have had this paper for years had bought it at Hobby Lobby, you can still get it there and I wanted to use it for the Scottie Dog shape ( you can just see his tail in the above photo)….

V paper 1

V paper 2

V paper 3

It is all vintage Valentines and I thought it would work so well….but once I got the little dogs cut out they were not quite what I wanted…..but oh well….live and learn! I still LOVE this paper! The last sheet will be going around a frame…..:)

I also plan on sending some of these, I won this Valentine on Etsy I think and it is huge but it is one of those sucker cards….remember these????

V suckers 1

I printed them smaller, and they look pink here, my table on my patio is fire engine red! I just have to send these….the sucker goes in her hand and is tacked down in the white start burst……

And I also bought these bag toppers I think last year at Hobby Lobby…

IMG_2554

I just love these…and I love cellophane bags, wrap you name it! I love getting items wrapped in them too! It’s a kid thing….:)

It has also been “snowing” leaves here in my “ back yard “ ( which is a small park where I live) and I wanted to show you how pretty it looks….I know this is images you normally see in October, but here in Mesa, it is January and February!

IMG_2564 This is one of three huge Cottonwood trees I have, luckily none of them give off the fluffy white stuff that Cottonwoods are known for…..just leaves!

Thanks for stoppin’ by!!!!!!

PS…..I have a very special project I am going to be showing you all.  It has to do with a wonderful gift from my friend Elizabeth!  More to come…soon! :)

A Valentine Swap!

Dolly_Dingle_Button

OK…..I can’t take much more of this quiet! :) Thank all of you again for such caring and support. I feel better( for right now), so let’s get the next party started!

If you are a follower of Elizabeth at Bluebird Papercrafts. You know of her ability to think ahead! LOL And so she has started a Valentine Card Exchange. Now even though her exchange is closed, there are others out there doing them also…..and I have decided to go along for the ride! :) My exchanges can be any style or type you love…..I am a vintage children’s card kind of gal, so chances are that is what mine will be!

I will do 12 13 card exchanges. So far I have:

1. Elizabeth from Bluebird Papercrafts

2. Sue from Sue Loves Cherries

3. Patti from Paintin Patti’s

4. Betty from She’s Sew Pretty

5. Deb from The Garage Sale Gal

6. Joyce from Scrap for Joy

7. Paula from Paula's Palace of AltAred Art

8. Allison

9. Linda from Lambsworld

10. Nan from Retired in Alaska

11. Sweet Bee from Sweet Bee Cottage

12. Kitten from Kitten Creates

13. Tamera from Stone Fence Cottage

So if you would like to exchange a card with me, please leave a comment, I have five spots left! I think 12 is a good amount to have to make, anymore and I get scared I won’t get them done! :):)

Happy Valentines Day!

Today is Joan's Vintage Card Party on her blog at Anything Goes Here. It is also Dolly's party at From My Cherry Heart.

The first part of this post took on a life of it's own last night when I received a scrapbook I had bought on Ebay. It was for a girl born in September of 1954 in Chicago, Illinois. It was for the first three years of her life. Baby, First Birthday, Christmas, Easter, and Valentines Day Cards, letters her Mom and Dad received, etc. I paid a good amount of money for this book, but I wanted to scan the cards and put them on my CD I want to make to sell.

So, anyway....I opened it up, and immediately the genealogist in me started screaming! She is 55 years old, there is a good chance she is still out there! The woman who I bought it from, knew nothing about the girl.

So, I said a small prayer and went to Ancestry.com. I went to Public Trees, put in all of the info on her folks and believe it or not, there were two trees with her parents and her listed as a living child! I could hardly write the emails to the tree owners....I was shaking so hard! I just pray they can help me get this book back where it belongs.

These are the Valentines cards that were in this sweet book:

These little strips of black are part of the book itself....

As you can see, the scrapbook itself is just falling apart, I am afraid it won't handle another trip, but I am going to try my darnedest to keep it together.....

I really hope I can get this to the woman if she is still alive.....I am sure this would mean a lot to her. I know what it would mean to me. I just wonder why she doesn't already have this?

I will keep you appraised of the results!

Dolly had a Wonderful Valentine Swap and she asked us to post about the box of goodies we got from our swap partner. I actually had two partners, Claudia lives in New Mexico but use to live in Arizona. She sent me a sweet box of all kinds of goodies!

The cute fluffy white item is a sweet little dog, Maya saw it and had to have it...it lasted a whole week before she had it torn apart!

There were sweet cards, and a valentine cupcake soap, and a cute pair of lips pin, pens and lip gloss and candy a wonderful vintage doily( hand embroidered) ...it went on and on! Thank you so much Claudia!

I also have another partner names Fitty, she lives in Malaysia and her box seems to have gotten on a slow boat....so I hope it arrives soon! I am also anticipating her box real soon....

So....Have a wonderful day and be sure to go to Dolly and Jean's blogs to see all of the other wonderful posts today!

As always..... thanks for stopping by!
