A Very Special Son

Yesterday was my Son Christopher’s 26th birthday. We went over to have pizza with him and his brother Bryan and Chris’ friends.

We went to Wal-Mart to get some groceries, Chris went one way and his Dad and me went another. We got what we needed and went back to get into his car and this was what was waiting for me:

A beautiful bouquet of roses! He had gone into the store, bought the flowers and brought them outside so they would be there when I got back in the car. He came around and gave me a big hug and said “ I wouldn’t be here without you!”….every year he shows up on his birthday with flowers for me.

Actually every time he comes to see me he has flowers for his Mom…..

I guess his Dad and I did a few things right! :)

I can remember when Wayne and I celebrated my first birthday as a couple , he was living in California and I was here living with my folks in Arizona. The door bell rang and the prettiest two bouquets of flowers were at the door…my Mom got them and brought them in and said “ Oh look, Wayne got you flowers! But when I went to look at the cards, one was for my Mom! She was so surprised!!! He thanked her for having me!!!!! I will never forget the look on her face….Wayne only got to send her flowers for two years, but both times were so special for her and me!!!!

I think that is where my sons get their sweet hearts…..I am surrounded by them! :)

That is just about the sweetest thing I have ever heard. I have heard that sons have that special connection to their mother. I only had daughters but I am so glad that both of my daughters are the mothers to boys!

What a sweet story, Sandy! Your husband and your son sound like very special men! As the mother of three girls, that's the kind of men I'm hoping they will find...well done, Mom!

That is the sweetest thing. My dad gets my mom a bouquet of flowers on each of my siblings birthdays. Each of us all have a "birthday flower" as well - mine is a tropicana rose. I get a single rose (as close to that color) each year in our special birthday bud vase. Your husband and son are keepers!
