I have been searching the web again, and found some great samples of Formica ….first I found this wonderful article on a blog called “Our Arts and Crafts Home”, her grandfather had passed ( he was almost 101 years of age) and they were cleaning out his home, and her father found these in the basement. Her grandfather like to collect odds and ends and this was probably one of them apparently.
Can you imagine how exciting this would have been???? She took them apart made these photos….
Oh so fifties…….
Linen type
Solids
The brand is so well known today that people generally refer to all laminated countertops and furniture as “Formica” whether or not they were actually the manufacturer. The brochure pictured above shows the Sunrise collection designed by Raymond Loewy Associates for Formica in 1953.
My Countertop would have been Lipstick Red Linen with a Chrome strip…no doubt! Tell me if you have one here you would use…..
Next….on to the Dinettes!

Those reds are wonderful and you should definitely chose with your heart. For me - I love those yellows particularly the boomerang one. Different colors talk to different people -- isnt' it grand?
I actually remember those formica chips ... my choice ... ta-da-dum!!! PINK!!! No surprise, right?
How are you doing my friend. Everything settling down for you? I hope so.
Happy Valentine's

How fun!
The last counter tops I actually got to choose were in my manufactured home and I thought I chose green marble. when the house showed up on our land after a year and a half of waiting, it was black marble! Ugh! I wouldn't want either now. My tastes change so often...
Here on the farm I have an old green- probably from the 50s. I do know that dark is better than light stain wise so I'd probably still go with a darker color.
What a cool find! I love all these! The red would be perfect for you!
Happy Valentines Day, sweet lady!
You would have loved my parents' kitchen...bright yellow Formica counter tops with the chrome strip. I moved one of the cabinets here to Pittsburgh when I moved from Philadelphia and I use it in the basement. Very retro!!
Happy Valentine's Day Sandy!

They have the boomerang, the linen and more.
Ooh, Sandy! I just love these samples! Thanks for sharing these fun photos! They remind me of my mothers kitchen done in pink formica with light green metal vinyl cabinets from the 50's, so pretty!
Blessings,
Susie
Definitely the Sky Blue Nassau! What a fun find! And might I say I would love to have Formica in my kitchen instead of my granite!
My Grandma had a green marbley Formica counter with the chrome strips, and I've always loved it, so if I was ever lucky enough, that's what I would choose! It's funny how some people think it's so ugly, and would only have granite countertops. They can have it. Give me Formica!
Everything old is new again. I'd love some of that formica in my house. Granite may become so yesterday.
Without a doubt I would choose White Skylark as that is very similar to the one in my childhood home. What fabulous memories!
How fun they all are! I would pick the black boomerang.
Oh my gosh, we had two of these in our bathrooms growing up - the red one in your first grouping and a boomerang in pink, with of course pink tiled walls. What memories...
Oh my...I totally remember that boomerang pattern in some of my young friends' homes. What a fun trip down memory lane! : )
Happy V-Day, Sandy.
