I can’t believe I won this!!!!!

Once in awhile I am lucky on Ebay. It used to be where you could fine vintage linens like this all of the time for a reasonable amount but not anymore. “Vintage” is sooo in right now!

I have seen this particular tablecloth go for a lot of money….there is on on Ebay right now at $135.00 ! I don’t think it is going to go….

This is right up my alley! So cute and the images are just like the vintage children’s cards I collect!

Plus she threw in 4 napkins, they don’t match but that is OK……I am a very happy camper! I was just so amazed I won this I wanted to share with everyone! LOL

Fun Vintage Finds for Rednesday!

I can’t believe a whole week has gone by already!!!! Here are a few more goodies I bought while up in Wisconsin:

As you can see on the sticker, this was 49 cents and in perfect shape! A little thrift store with great prices!

The sifter was a dollar, the scoop 29 cents! I was in Nirvana!!!! LOL

Sweet little salt and pepper shakers that are red tulips!

I got these at a neighborhood thrift sale…in perfect shape! $2.00 !

This was my favorite find…I found one set but one of the lids was cracked, and then we went to another little town and I found the same set in perfect shape….these are Hazel Atlas glass.

A sweet little tablecloth full of fun vintage fruit…$5.00!

Vintage Thingie Thursday

It is always fun to link up with Suzanne on Thursdays. I have missed quite a few lately and have decided that I am going to join in more often!

I am going to show you some of the things I bought while in Wisconsin!

One of my very favorite vintage finds is 1940’s linens for the kitchen and I was very lucky this last trip!

First of all look at this wonderful apron my cousin bought for me while we were at the main antique store in downtown Eau Claire:

It is homemade and just about as colorful as you could ask for!

A few days later we were at another sweet store and I found these towels, for just $2.50 each….

When I got them home, I realized that two of them matched the apron!

See how it is the same fabric????

The towels are made of that wonderful fabric they sold in the 40’s and 50’s that came by the yard, and all you had to do was cut it to the length you wanted and hem the ends…..now I see they used it for aprons and I imagine curtains too!

I can’t believe I have never seen this pattern and I found three things in one tiny town that all had the same fabric! What are the odds????

I wish I could go back in time and shop at a store that had all of these wonderful products! :)

I also picked up this sweet, colorful cookbook:

I am not sure what “Meals from the Manse” means, but when I opened it and I read the name of the lady who owned it, a Mrs. J.B. Turney, my cousin said “ Oh that was a friend of mine’s mother”! Again, what are the odds? The woman had died years ago…..a little spooky, huh?

Brand New “Vintage” Tablecloth for Rednesday

Here it is, Wednesday already again! The weeks are flying by…..

I went to Old World Market ( before the Easter stuff was out) and found this wonderful brand new “Vintage” style tablecloth and napkins. It is just perfect for Spring! Red, white and blue….oh, it will be great for the

4th of July too! LOL

And my next contribution to Rednesday is….. drum roll please…..

Yes, I made something in my craft room! Can you believe it?????

I am very happy with how this turned out. So this is for Rednesday and for Elizabeth’s “Tag-A-Long” at Creative Breathing. This is my March tag! You can't really see it, but the lamb and her blue ribbon on her hat are glittered. Stickles is a lot of fun!

I had such a good time making this! Thanks Joyce for the tip on the cardstock to use in my printer…it helped a bunch!

Reproduction versus Real Vintage Tablecloths?

One of my real passions are 1940's kitchen tablecloths. I just adore them, mostly the fruit and vivid primary colored ones. Once in awhile I am lucky to snap up a real vintage one, but a lot of mine, I must confess are reproductions. I found with the real vintage ones, I didn't want to use them for fear of ruining them. So, I started buying the reproductions and enjoying them. What are your thoughts on this? How do you feel about using and possibly ruining a wonderful vintage find? I saw at at Tina Smith's blog http://cherryhillcottage.typepad.com/cherryhill_cottage/ that she had made art to put on her entry way walls with vintage tablecloths. What a great idea! I might just try that! Let me know what you think !
