I recently was in Wal-Mart and saw this book out of the corner of my eye….I just had to buy it…
I don’t know about you, but I remember this book as a child, and reading it to my children when they were little…..I just love the graphics! The kids now are so missing out on the wonderful artist’s of the 40’s and 50’s…..
This is how the book looks now:
See what I mean???? I guess I am just a bit on the nostalgic side today…..so enjoy some of the pages with me. :)
I wonder if the new version ends with “Happy Christmas” like Clement C. Moore meant it to be…..
When my children were little guys and my husband read to them before bed, they would go over the back of these books and tell him who everyone was on the back cover…..this had to be done every time…..Such a nice memory. :)

Love it ! I just bought one at the grocery store, and I have several, but for some reason needed this one too :)
I Love all the old "Classics" and even decorate with my old Christmas Favorites. Do you have Jolly Old Santa Claus? Now THAT has some beautiful illustrations!
I still love the old stories & books & artwork best. You bet we read that story often as tots & for our children. Awww! Memories ...
Hope Mother is settled & doing better.
Merry Christmas

It so mass marketed. No warm fuzzies anymore. They just give you a stamped out PC book now. Love all those characters...tawny scrawny lion, toot and puddles, poky little puppy. Thanks for the memories...smiles...Renee
That's the version I grew up on -- haven't thought about it in ages. Thanks for sharing! Those pictures sure did bring me back :)
Happy Holidays!
Hi Sandy! Thanks for your sweet comments about my dollhouse- I'm addicted, I'm afraid...!
Love these images of Night Before Christmas- I'd love for you to link up with me on Fridays when I do my Vintage Story Books parties!
Sandy,
I saw the same book and thought the same thing. The graphics in those old books just can't be matched by the new ones. Now I'm going to go back and buy it! We have a version that has old-fashioned pictures as well, but I think this is the version we were read as children.
Betsy
I remember that book vividly! Thanks for sharing with us.
Hi Sandy,
Such wonderful memories here today. I love that Christmas classic, and yes, the illustrations were the very best.

Oh how I loved to be read to from this book when I was little. The pictures were just magical to me! And still are. Happy Christmas to you Sandy!
I know I'm getting old but the new books just can't compare to these. I love them.
Sandy thanks for continuing to come when I call for prayers. It means so much to hear from you and know that you care. It's seems hospital visits will never end these days. And how dare I complain when 2 different family members are suffering in critical care. I know they all appreciate your prayers as much as I do.
God bless you and I love you...Tracy :)
Oh how I miss all the graphics of my childhood. They are precious and I love it when I find old books at the thrift store.
Aw! Thanks for showing us the pictures, Sandy! It's funny because my boy had to go over the characters on the back of the book, too! I think it was just his way of making the story last a little bit longer! :)
Those old graphics cannot be replaced. They have a wonderful charm all thier own!!
Annette
Yes! That's the one we had! It was my favorite along with the Walt Disney Mother Goose. I still have that one.
You just can't beat the old graphics. I think I may have that one around here somewhere. You'd think I would get my books organized someday. Thanks for sharing!
I remember these so well! Thanks for the trip down memory lane, Sandy! You have some wonderful vintage treasures.
