Remember this one?

I recently was in Wal-Mart and saw this book out of the corner of my eye….I just had to buy it…

I don’t know about you, but I remember this book as a child, and reading it to my children when they were little…..I just love the graphics!  The kids now are so missing out on the wonderful artist’s of the 40’s and 50’s…..

This is how the book looks now:

See what I mean????  I guess I am just a bit on the nostalgic side today…..so enjoy some of  the pages with me.  :)

I wonder if the new version ends with “Happy Christmas” like Clement C. Moore meant it to be…..

When my children were little guys and my husband read to them before bed,  they would go over the back of these books and tell him who everyone was on the back cover…..this had to be done every time…..Such a nice memory.  :)

I Love all the old "Classics" and even decorate with my old Christmas Favorites. Do you have Jolly Old Santa Claus? Now THAT has some beautiful illustrations!

It so mass marketed. No warm fuzzies anymore. They just give you a stamped out PC book now. Love all those characters...tawny scrawny lion, toot and puddles, poky little puppy. Thanks for the memories...smiles...Renee

Sandy,

I saw the same book and thought the same thing. The graphics in those old books just can't be matched by the new ones. Now I'm going to go back and buy it! We have a version that has old-fashioned pictures as well, but I think this is the version we were read as children.

Oh how I loved to be read to from this book when I was little. The pictures were just magical to me! And still are. Happy Christmas to you Sandy!

I know I'm getting old but the new books just can't compare to these. I love them.

Sandy thanks for continuing to come when I call for prayers. It means so much to hear from you and know that you care. It's seems hospital visits will never end these days. And how dare I complain when 2 different family members are suffering in critical care. I know they all appreciate your prayers as much as I do.

God bless you and I love you...Tracy :)

Aw! Thanks for showing us the pictures, Sandy! It's funny because my boy had to go over the characters on the back of the book, too! I think it was just his way of making the story last a little bit longer! :)

Yes! That's the one we had! It was my favorite along with the Walt Disney Mother Goose. I still have that one.

You just can't beat the old graphics. I think I may have that one around here somewhere. You'd think I would get my books organized someday. Thanks for sharing!
