Rednesday is here again!

Hello everyone!  I want to thank everybody who stopped by and sent emails that wanted me to know they were praying for my family.  The support was wonderful and very helpful!!!  “One day at a time” seems perfect for my family right now….and so that is what we will do!

SO…..is it cool where you live, do you feel the bite in the air?  Well folks, it was 107 degrees here yesterday.  YUK !!!!!  I am so sick of heat!  But we are hopeful, it could be in the 90’s by next week! Doesn’t that sound cool?????  LOL  Fall never seems to show up in this part of Arizona until mid October, they say the latest it was over 100 degrees in Phoenix was October 23, 2003…..let’s hope we don’t break that record!

I don’t have a lot of photo of any new red items, but I forgot about this sweet little doll carrier I got at a second hand store about a year ago….found it under my table in my craft room!

IMG_2217 IMG_2218 I just love the inside!  The sweet little wallpaper with the gold starts!  I wish I had the doll that stayed in here! :)

IMG_2219 This little bar can be pushed in for closure or pulled out for getting to the dresses in the back….

A close up of the wallpaper….. the stars look silver but they are gold…

IMG_2220

I also love this piece!  I had a hard time deciding between a red one and a yellow one….they both were so darn vintage!

But as with most items, the red won out!  It took my husband and another guy to put this together and they weren’t happy with me! LOL

IMG_2221 I have a piece of oilcloth that I would like to use to redo the seat and the back….maybe someday.

A little plain for me….but I use it all of the time!

And this is one of my shelves in my spice cupboard…..I just love all of the colors!

From One Day to the Next

clip_image002

I have a request….without going into major detail, I need to ask for those of you who come to visit this blog to help hold up my family in prayer and positive thoughts please. I cannot go into the crisis any father than that at this time. I will leave you with a quote I found that seems to fit the bill for me right now….

“God grant me the serenity to accept the people I cannot change, the courage to change the one I can, and the wisdom to know it is me.”

Surprise! And a winner!

Happy Halloween everybody!!!!!!!

Is this fun or what????   I have to thank Karen Valentine, she did a wonderful job with this and I am more than happy with it!  It makes me smile and that is always a good thing!

I also picked a winner for my 1st Anniversary…there were 51 posts and so I put the numbers  1 to 51 into the Random number generator and the winner is

#29 !!!!!!  Paula Clare!!!!!!!!

I tried to get a copy of the generator but it wouldn’t let me do it!

I had planned on getting something on my vacation for the winner and I just didn’t see anything that was unique….

On my way back from California I stopped at a Cracker Barrel and saw this wonderful cookbook!  It is written by I believe,  a niece of the owner of Cracker Barrel….it is full of vintage recipes and tips and the cookbook is so cute!  It is a good read besides being a great cookbook! Pages and Pages of fun!    And of course, what is Halloween without candy?????  Paula, I know you will love this! By the way, here is a photo of my finished “caramel apples” too!  Have yet, to put ribbon on them! :)

I’m Back and Ready for Fall !

Hello everybody! Wayne and me had a wonderful 4 days in California! We stayed in a place called Hawaiian Gardens, CA. It is 1 mile from Knott’s Berry Farm and just a few from Disneyland, but we didn’t do either! :)

We asked about a beach and were told about Seal Beach….oh my gosh what an incredible place about 7 miles down the road!

I am not going to bore you with tons of vacation photos but I have to share a few…..ok…more than a few!

IMG_2141 This was our room, it was a La Quinta and had been built in December of 2009. It was spotless and fresh and very very nice. Not to mention only 65.00 a night! We were right down the street to just about everything! Next time you go to Southern Cal with the kids, you might think of calling this place.

So, the first night…..

Seal Beach at dusk, we walked down the pier and there was Ruby’s!

IMG_2151 we had a great meal, with Kobe hamburgers…

IMG_2152 do I look tired? No…not al all! 6 hours in the car was not fun!

IMG_2154 These made up for it tho…..:)

IMG_2149 the houses that back up to Seal Beach….lucky folks!

The next day we went back down and shopped a little on their Main Street…..and ate at a place called Woody’s.

IMG_2175 IMG_2174 It was cold! Even the birds were hunkered down….

IMG_2177

These wonderful trees were along the house that backed up to the beach, I had to take a few shots of them and the sweet little cottages, probably worth a million or more!

IMG_2182 IMG_2183 Does anyone know what these are????? The flowers are huge and beautiful!!!!!!

It was so wonderful, even the “modest” neighborhoods" way away from the beaches were neat as a pin and very well taken care of through most of the cities…..well…this is all for now, I have laundry to do! Faux Carmel Apples

I was surfing thru blogs the other day and saw this post on Dragonfly Treasures:

http://dragonflytreasure.blogspot.com/2009/09/caramel-apples-to-eat-or-not-to-eat.html

These were so much fun to make!!!!!! I still have to seal them, but I wanted to share with you how my friend Lin and I made ours….

Follow the instructions as to what you need, I ended up getting different paint, these re the colors we mixed:

IMG_2118

This is just a personal preference as far as to how much of each…but we ended up adding more paint than the tutorial suggested, and they still turned out great!!!!!

The “nuts” are a type of bedding or cage cover that I found at Wal-Mart…. unfortunately it only came in a huge bag! But I think it was like $3.82 or something, not expensive….

IMG_2117

This is ours before the crystal glaze, and we used Krylon Triple Thick Crystal Glaze/0500, also at Wal-Mart.

And here they are before they were glazed….

IMG_2114 isn’t the corn cob bedding amazingly like nuts????

IMG_2116

Perfect!!!! They are going on a cute plate on my kitchen table after I add some ribbons…..great decorating idea, and they have no calories!!!!!

Don’t forget to comment on my Blog Anniversary Post to have your name put in my Anniversary Giveaway!

Come on Autumn!!!!!!
