And still my heart hurts…..

IMG_3973

Our last day, a year ago tomorrow……there is still a catch in my throat and tears that burn my eyes…..

There are times I can feel her weight jump up on the bed, circle and lay by my side….. I stay very still and enjoy the touch…..

There are many dogs that have been in my life.  I loved them all one way or another.  Maya was different….I had no idea you could love that hard!

I found these words on Pinterest and they seemed perfect….by Jim Willis…

So this is where we part, My Friend,
and you'll run on, around the bend,
gone from sight, but not from mind,
new pleasures there you'll surely find.

I will go on, I'll find the strength,
life measures quality, not its length.
One long embrace before you leave,
share one last look, before I grieve.

There are others, that much is true,
but they be they, and they aren't you.
And I, fair, impartial, or so I thought,
will remember well all you've taught.

Your place I'll hold, you will be missed,
the fur I stroked, the nose I kissed.
And as you journey to your final rest,
take with you this...I loved you best.

Until we meet again Maya….forever loved…..

Awwww. I am sure you will be with her again. I always ask St Francis to look after all my animals, here and departed, and I will ask him to give Maya a special hug tonight.

Oh Sandy, I know how you feel. I am so sorry for the loss of your sweet girl. These anniversaries always bring up these memories. I'm still grieving myself. Twyla

I'm sorry, Sandy.
For some reason the words on your blog are teeny tiny for me tonight and I can't read them. But for this post, I don't need to read the words to know how you're feeling. I know you still miss your girl terribly.
Big Hugs to you!!!

We have always had a dog or two as part of our family- one of them was a black and white "mutt"- my Maisey. I loved all of my pets but none like her. She and I had a bond that I'm sure I will never have with another pup. The poem that you posted says it all. I think that we are blessed to have a friend (if even for a short while) that we can love so dearly and be loved back in the same way. So sorry for your sadness- she was a real beauty!
