The Contents of the Box!

OK….I finally got this all put together….here is what it looked like in pieces….

Yup….it is the dollhouse of my dreams!

Marx Mansion 1

Wayne and I put it together New Years Day, and it wasn’t even really hard.  Just a little tricky, as it has been unassembled and the tabs were bent.  This the called the “Marx Mansion” it is the biggest house they made.  I joined a Marx dollhouse group on Yahoo and have learned so much already.  I bought this on EBay from a person who had gotten it at an estate sale, they hoped it was all here.  It was!  And in near perfect shape!!!!  No dents at all, and a few scratches.

Here are a few views of the rooms….such great graphics!  I have a lot of Renwal Furniture that I have been holding onto and guess what?  It fits perfect in this house!  I am so happy to finally have one and feel blessed that I could but this for Christmas…

The kitchen, look at the walls and that red floor!

Love this kitchen!

I will be building some shelves in my craft room to display this…..I did get a good amount of furniture with this house, but oddly it was the wrong scale, so it is on EBay as we speak!  If you need 1/2” scale Mark furniture, so check out the seller  Sanjos333…

It took me a couple of years to finally get a really nice one, but it was worth the wait…..red and white and all of those wonderful colors inside are right up my alley!  I guess you could say I am in my second childhood, but I don’t think I ever stopped loving toys of my youth.

Thanks for stopping by…..

Well that is just a lovely doll house I'm so glad you found it. I have several myself 3 of which Bob and I made and one that is mine from the 40's. They are certainly had to display. I'm having a special shelf for them on top of my craft cabinets built. You can't see the details up there but at least they are up and out of the way off my crafting counter. The other thing is they do get dusty, I see I need to take everything out and dust them. Nan

So excited for you! It is perfect! I think you and I would crawl in it and live if we could! We would have to get rid of that pink though, huh?! Merry Christmas to you!!!!

Oh that is just soooo cool! I aways wanted one when I was little but never got one. I wanted the one like yours with the patio! There is a house in Wichita that reminds me of the dollhouse and I would think of it whenever I would drive by!That kitchen is so cool!
One of these days I should try to get one, but I really don't know where I would display it.

Can I come over and play at your house?

Oh Sandy, I LOVE your dollhouse. I had one similar to this one when I was a little girl, and am always looking for one in good condition. The furniture brings back memories too. Like you, I am collecting things that remind me of childhood. I especially love this one because it's red!

I am completely smitten with your dollhouse. The graphics are just perfect and the furniture is just lovely. My girls have been busy playing with their dollhouses all Christmas break. I've joined them often. I'm so happy for you! Enjoy playing!

Hello Sandy - and pleased to meet you! How nice of Renee to share her friends!
I've just had a little read of your last few posts - seems you've had quite a time of it.
Loving that someone thought to write information on the back of the photos...we have inherited a huge amount of history with no clue who anyone is and would love to know more. Rare that someone had such a sense of history all those years ago.

And your house - it's adorable. I can feel the love you have for it bouncing off the page.
It's the last day of the hols for us today - so off to take the decorations down...just stalling!
Thanks for popping by

I remember playing with one of those at church when I was little! Is it made of metal? What fun memories! I loved rearranging the furniture. Lol

Hi Sandy! I had a version of this doll house that I probably got around 1960--it was metal, had plastic furniture (not as nice as yours) and looked just like yours.

Thanks for reminding me! I really liked that little house.....

Oh! I'm so so jealous. I love it. I had one like this (not as nice) as a kid with furniture. It was a hand-me-down from someone (not my family) and I loved it. Sigh. Glad for you though that you found it and appreciate it.

What a little girls and big girls dream. It would be so fun to decorate it. Where will you keep it?
Happy decorating.

Oh Sandy, you're going to have so much fun "playing house"! It's so pretty, inside and out. It looks alot like mine, which is from my childhood. I finally brought it up from the basement and put it on a shelf by the back door, so I can see it every day!
Happy REDnesday,
Carol

Super cute! It looks great..like new! Is it made of tin? At first I thought cardboard (which is awesome..I love paper stuff), but it's so shiny! Anyway, just wanted to say "hi" and thanks for visiting my blog and the helpful tip!! I appreciate it! Have a great day, Deanna

Sandy,

Your blog is so cute! I've been looking over my mom's shoulder at it for many months! I finally got started on my own, and I appreciate you joining along!

That doll house is adorable! My aunt had one when she was a little girl. I've never seen one as cute as yours, though!

Thanks, again!
