Vintage Candy 101 Part 2

OK…this post probably wouldn’t have happened but….well you’ll see! :)

One of my favorite things to do after my folks grilled outside was to roast marshmallows. We weren’t a camping family, so that is how I had to do it.

Even people that normally don’t like marshmallows will enjoy them roasted!

Wayne and I were at the last home town grocery chain in AZ, it is called Basha’s. We try to stop there at least a couple times a month to help keep it going. And right up front they had a summer candy display, I kid you not! :)

I spotted these marshmallows and they brought back all kinds of memories….you remember Campfire Marshmallows????

Well, these are them, but they are just a little different….how you say???

IMG_1839

They look the same, right????? Ahhh…not quite. Are you ready?????

These are called GIANT Roasters, and they aren’t kidding!!!!! No more having to put two on at once! This baby is enough for three people! LOL

I know when whoever drew this they were exaggerating, but it has come to pass! A marshmallow that is too big!!!! When is enough enough????? Even I think this is overload! :) :) :)

Thanks for stopping by!

It's funny. I don't like marshmallows much at all. But I do like roasting them even if I have to have them a burned as they can be. And then I think I like the black ashy part more. I'm not sure what that says about me.

Wow I have never seen those giant ones. I would love those as I have two marshmellows in my hot chocolate everyday.

I've seen those, and they come in a mixed bag of white and pink here. Someone brought them to work one day not too long ago too, so I had a chance to try the strawberry ones and I didnt care for them. But I would love to roast one of those giant ones.. just think of a giant s'more!!
have a great week!

I have to have my marshmellows burnt too-the crispier the better!! Never seen these gigantic one though in any stores around here. That would be fun trying to roast that one.

Hi Sandy!
When I was in the little seaside town of South Haven, there was a 5 and dime...and they were selling these giant marshmallows...for a GUN! A marshmallow shooting gun! Can you IMAGINE?!?! We've had marshmallow fights with our youth group (and unsuspecting pastor) a few times, but never had an ARSENAL for shooting...

I think one would be enough to make me utterly ill...I can never get passed more than one s'more at a time...too rich! Too sweet, but OH! Giant marshmallows! What a way to go!

Hugs,
Paula Clare

Now that is some serious marshmallow. I probably haven't eaten one in 10 years. It would be rather filling wouldn't it.

We used to go camping at Indiana Beach every summer when our daughter was little, and roasting marshmallows was a big part of every night around the campfire! We were just talking about this a couple of nights ago, and how much we miss it. Great post, Sandy!

I can't even remember the last time I roasted/toasted a marshmallow! I think NEED to do it soon, and I want S'mores. I did just buy some Dreyer's S'mores ice cream yesterday - and it IS good, but it's not the same, of course.
I LOVE that pin with Chip and Dale! How cute are they with their big campfire?!

Oh, I want a s'more right now. And I loved your candies...we must be
around the same age because they are all the ones I remember from my
childhood. Love that turkish taffy...just pure sugar. And the beauty of
candy buttons...wow.

I am enjoying your blog. I know the name is familiar and I just did the
swap "Something Old..." and saw some of the things you did there.

Also like your work...I love the tags you did for Elizabeth's site.
Looks like a great new line of paper, too!

My daughter and I have a relatively new blog...less then three months.
Come and visit sometime if you would like! It's really not all about
jewelry!
