It has to come down, right?

OK....time to put the Christmas away....it has been hard for me this year to think about putting all of my things away for another year. This Christmas was very special. I had such a good time sharing it with all of you! But alas, it is time.....so, these are the bins that I have to fill. I am going to try to get more organized putting it away this year.

Usually I am so tired of it all, that I just start packing, but this year I want it by rooms. So it will take a little longer, but in the end it will be better when I get it out next year. We purchased a new smaller tree for next year, it is a little 6 footer, the one we have now has seen better days, all kinds of lights out, and branches broken so this year was it's final hurrah. I feel kind of sad throwing it away.....

It was a fine tree for many years....

I know everyone says in January that they are going to be more organized, but for the first time, I feel I really can do this....so if I am not posting for a few days, you know where I am! LOL

Happy New Year! Sandy! Boy am I glad I popped in today. Now I don't feel sooooo guilty about the number of Christmas containers I have to put away tomorrow. I have had such fun catching up on your posts. I think we do have kindred crafting hearts! You made Jell-o candy canes - too cute! Your craft room clock would look so adorable in MY craft room! I loved looking at all of your Christmas decorations. So much to see, I must go back for another look! Elizabeth

I just wish I could find the storage boxes to get me going! I've been out today looking and everyone is, of course, sold out. I only have a few from last year. Why didn't I buy them before now? Because I avoid stores during the month of December!

I'm all done ... love those storage bins. Target has a huge sale on them, even the ornament ones which are so cool with trays for each bulb.

Happy New Year! May your year bring beauty, joy & blessings ...

I wish I had bought shares in the Rubbermaid company years ago. I would be rich you hear me, rich.
Organization is highly overrated.

Well, this is exactly what I should have done, but I threw it all in boxes again, could not wait to get it out of the house and in the garage....I need to get organized too, it is on my list of must do's this year!!

I count fifteen totes. Wow, you've got me beat! I thought I had a lot with 9 plus various huge bagged items. Oragnization...love that word. It took me three days to take down Christmas, much to MDH's chagrin. He wanted me to just throw it in the totes, but I had to go through and make sure that every ornament had it's hanger attached securely, etc, etc. He'll thank me for it next year when we can get it all up quicker!!

I use bins like this, although I think you have more than I do. I put duct tape on the side and write what's in each tub. It makes it easier next year. Have a wonderful New Year.
Blessings,

Oh GOOD GIRL! You will really notice a difference next year when you take it all out. Every little bit of organization helps.
Happy New Year!

What a good idea...by rooms. Well, if you choose a word for this year it doesn't need to be "organize" cause it sounds like you are already that! I am so flattered you thought that I made those hearts for Elizabeth and I had to go back and re-read her blog post....she used some vintage buttons I sent her on the hearts. Those hearts and birds are totally Elizabeth-isn't she amazing? I'm so glad you visit-it's always nice to chat!
Take care Sandy and keep warm! I love your blog header and background..very vintagy!

Good luck with all your organizing! I always think taking down the Christmas tree is the saddest job in the world. Don't work too hard! Have a nice week! Twyla

Ugh! That's what we're doing tomorrow - having put it off since Tuesday. I once put off taking Christmas down until April, which got a little embarrassing for the neighbors. We all love the trees and the decorations so much but we are sooooo happy and sad to see them safely put away for another year. We have 18 bins that we get out every year, plus maybe a dozen boxes of stuff that we haven't gotten out since our marriage three years ago. There's only one solution - a bigger house! With a lot more flat surfaces....
