Sandy gets to meet Santa!

For Vintage Christmas Monday I am going to tell you a little about me, I guess I would be considered vintage! :)
I was only lucky enough to get my photo taken with Santa Claus one time as a little girl in the late 1950's - early 1960's, but I still can remember that night so vividly. We lived in a suburb of Cleveland and so we got to go downtown to Halles Dept. Store. Santa was on the 7th Floor. There was a Toy box that you had to have a key to to get a toy. So as you went to have your photo done, Santa's "elf" gave you a key. OK....it is just a cardboard cutout of a key on a red yarn tie, but it was magical to me! The whole department store was incredible to a 5-6 year old, the colors and the lights and the decorations! Santa's "elf "was named named Mr. Jingeling, and he had a song in the ads on TV for Halle's that I can still sing today .....

Mr. Jingeling
How you ting-a-ling
Keeper of the keys.
On Halle's 7th floor
We'll be looking for
You and all your keys!

I found this photo a few months ago and decided it needed to be displayed this Christmas....what a sweet photo of a very happy little girl! I can't really relate that she is me!

And here is my youngest son Chris at this same age....the innocence and joy is so apparent. He couldn't wait until Christmas. I still am thankful that his teacher did this photo!

I love this time of year! Sometimes I wish that 25 year old man was still a 5 year old boy!

Thanks for coming by......

Sandy, you had me crying in my teacup with this post. Such beautiful memories for you. Your photo is precious, from your smile, your lovely coat and mitten...and yes that key! It even looks like Santa is about to wink, just like those vintage Santa figurines. I love it. And your son, such a cutie with a bright smile holding that sweet Santa. Thanks for sharing.

Oh Sandy, you're so lucky to have such a wonderful picture of you with Santa! And I love the whole story of going to see him too. But let's talk about that frame. I love it! Did you make it? It's a really great idea, so if you made it, you should do a little tutorial on it!
Happy VCM!

Alright Sandy, I have tears in my eyes from cute overload! Do you just want to melt at the little key pressed against your darling overcoat! I just loved your description of the department store. I was right there with you waiting for my own key! Thank you for sharing! Elizabeth

What cute little kids! Remember the song (of course you do!) "Memories are Made of These"?

"outpoota"? What kind of a word verification is that! LOL!
