Well, we have had an interesting week…..guess what we have?
Yup….ants! And in the strangest places. First just the countertops of our master bathroom, black ones, good size. Then the small sugar ants invaded our kitchen three nights ago and they swarmed my poor dog’s food, and then last night just in the main bathroom on the floor….specific areas, and they only show at night….odd for sure. But I can promise you they are ALL dead now…lol We washed a lot of floors this week. :)
We live in a modular home and in the almost 6 years we have lived here we have never had an ant problem. Wayne said he had heard on the news about the valley having a big problem this year in the valley with ants….well let me tell me, we went and got granules to put outside, sprayed the whole outside perimeter of the house and bought plenty of indoor spray! I detest ants!!!!!! LOL
Post script: After all the ants died I washed every floor I sprayed, and my dog isn’t allowed to go outside without one of us with her, we lived in a community with no fences, I was very sure that she was safe! Thanks for all of the tips, I am definitely going to try one or two…or three… lol
Now on to the fun things, I am going to be in Eau Claire most of October, Wayne unfortunately has to stay here. But I wanted a few of my Halloween things out….
This Black cat and Halloween plaque are from one of my favorite sellers on Ebay, her shop name is Stromboli’s Wagon. Her name is Laura. She has great items for almost any holiday and does different sizes, she will make custom orders also.
The flickering candles came from Kohl’s 40% then 30% off, and I had a credit! :)
And I know most of you know where this sweet guy from!
I am getting so excited! I get to go home, have a real Autumn, meet Tammy from Tammy’s in Love and Deb from Garage Sale Gal and spend a day with them, then spend lots of time with my family….how perfect is that????? I will be keeping in touch! :)

We're counting down the days to Sandy time too! The weather this week is GORGEOUS and leaves are getting to 60% or so color. You'll be here for perfections. Glad you got the 'bad guys' with RAID!!!
Hi Sandy you won't want to hear this but we have no ants in Alaska. I hope you have a great time in Wis visiting Fall colors.
Hi Sandy!!!!
While I don't like the ants inside either, just be careful with all those sprays and stuff...too much could make you or the family pets sick! (I worry about that!)
SO, looking forward to the 10th! It will be a FULL and FUN day!
The Bloggers Gathering went well today. 3 gals came and it was great to talk and share!
Happy Sunday!
Warmly,
deb
Hi -- Sorry to hear about your ant problems -- they are such creepy little dudes.
If you find that the sprays did not work, or if you decide not to risk using spray chemicals again, I strongly recommend Terro Liquid Ant Baits. They sell them at Home Depot and similar stores, or on Amazon.
Put them down where you have ants, in within a couple of days -- or less -- the ants will not only be gone, but they'll be gone for good, because they will have brought the bait back to their nests. The bait is non toxic to humans AND pets.
It's a safe and very effective way of ridding yourself of all sorts of ants. Good luck! And have fun on your trip.

Have a great time meeting the girls!! So jealous!!! Take lots of pictures!
Have a safe and fun trip!!

Sounds like fun I bet you girls have a great time! Hugs, Diane
I mix boric acid in a little dab of jelly. First the ants swarm all over it (which is actually kinda interesting to watch), then they are gone within a few days. Works every time.
LOL! I laughed when I noticed the spray cans were in Halloween colors! I hate any bugs in my house. I saw something like Mary Ann mentioned above on Pinterest...gotta love it for great tips. =D
You have ants, we have stink bugs! By the legions! They're everywhere! I am so jealous that you get to meet Tammy and Deb in real life. Hope you have a wonderful trip.
Blessings
Linda
Hi Sandy,
I hate ants, too. We get the pesky, biting red ants here in Texas. I hardly ever see the black ones. The bite of a red one leaves you painfully itching for days. So happy you will get to go "home" and the icing on the cake is to also be able to meet up with wonderful blogging gals. Have fun!

Throw sprigs of lemon balm around-- keeps ants out for me! And the stuff grows like a weed!
I must check out those candles. They are neat and it would add a lot to my Halloween table. Thanks for sharing.
We had the big black ants once, about 18 years ago...they built their nest in my son's bureau! My skin crawls just thinking about them.
Have a great trip and enjoy your time with the girls! :) --Fran
We have had this happen a couple times. I use a Raid liquid that you squirt down and they take it back with them to the colony where it kills everyone there.
They are drawn to the stuff and you can squirt it where your animals won't come into contact with it.
It is a giant pain though isn't it.
I hope the spray worked on the ants. Your Halloween stuff is so cute. I love those candles. I hope you have fun with your meet up. Wish I lived close to you guys. Have fun!
Sorry about the ants, we have them in crazy places, too! Sweet decorations!! Happy October! xo Heather
Oh Sandy, I am always so happy when you put your Halloween banner up. It is so cute! I hope you have such a lovely time at home, and please send my hellos to Tammy and Deb. They are such sweet blogging friends to us all. Hurry back! Elizabeth
