A little Yellow Table

I had put this little kitchen table in layaway a couple of months ago, and the woman was nice enough to let me make payments longer than usual for her terms. I just love this! I am going to use it as a island, I think.

Isn’t it cute??????

I think the top was originally this sweet lemon yellow ( photos do not do it justice), and I assumed the pattern on top was original, but when I got to cleaning it, I noticed that it is raised, like paint…..

IMG_2243 IMG_2242

It is the identical color that the person painted the legs with too….but they could have gotten a paint match….

It has the cutest drawer,

Sadly, the paint job on the legs is truly sad, apparently the person hadn’t heard of painter’s tape….but I think I can fix it if I can get a paint match, or at least close…..

ANd the top only has one bad chip, and I like the “vintage” feel ot it!

IMG_2244

Heck, by looking at this, maybe the top was originally red?????

Anyhow, this is the “feel” I want in my kitchen, I am going to be swapping kitchen table and putting in a smaller round red one, so this has more room…..look at the fun handle! It is metal…..

IMG_2240

This is probably bits and pieces of different pieces of furniture but I just love it! It is only 25 inches long by 39 1/2 inches wide……can you imagine eating on a table that small with four people? It was a lot simpler back then, no need to keep getting more and more or bigger and bigger….a lesson I think we as a country need to remember!

Thanks for stopping by…..I have to get busy on a fun tag swap with Elizabeth from Creative Breathing. :)

Oh Sandy, this is the most beautiful table. I always like those vintage tables with the draws. I know folks used to put their knifes, forks, and spoons in them, for easy access. What a find, and perfect for your kitchen.

Hi Sandy,
It's truly wonderful! My kitchen table is very similar...and the paint IS original but it is "raised" as well. Mine is not the wonderfully vintage lemon yellow, but it is also very small and sits two without the leaves extended...four when fully expanded. It will be the perfect addition to your quaint 1940s kitchen! Do you already have chairs that go with it?

This is indeed a sweet table and perfect for you use. I would paint the legs all white and forget trying to fool with that red. Nan

Sandy,
Great find. I think the imperfections just add to the cuteness! I have a similar table, and I love mine. Great idea to use it for an island.

love your new little island table! I bought a green one very similar with two little wooden chairs that "match". The table Ihave has sides that fold up and down to make it a little bigger. I keep it on my porch. I might just use it for my kitchen table someday.. who knows!
have a great week

Sandy, for some reason not everyone's blog is appearing on my reading list. I can't believe I have missed a single post. This table is so very sweet. Your Fall decorating very inspiring! I've got to figure out this problem, because I simply can't miss another post! Elizabeth

Adorable little table! I think the paint on the top is original, despite the red showing at the chip -- the manufacturer probably painted the red sides of the table first, overlapping a bit onto the top for coverage, then did the topcoat of yellow.

As for the legs, you can take the table to the paint store and get an exact match -- or just paint them red!

Enjoy it, it's darling.

Over the top cute! Can we just roll back time and live in that era? When life gets tough, I'll come sit at your table!

Cute vintage table! My Mom had a similar one with touches of black instead of red in the 1950s. I love your Halloween blog template. It's one of the cutest out there. I like cute rather than scary for Halloween. Have a lovely day.

That would make one beautiful island in your kitchen. I love repurposing. It just wouldn't be as much fun letting someone build a real island in our kitchens, would it?

I just discovered your blog. I think I'll need spend entire days online to see the special things everyone has. I love the table. I had a similar one, and when it fell apart I almost cried. I haven't seen any I can afford, but I'm looking. I love the 40s kitchen look, and I love all the great ideas I see on these blogs. I think I am developing my own list of favorites, and yours will surely be on it.
