A little Yellow Table

I had put this little kitchen table in layaway a couple of months ago, and the woman was nice enough to let me make payments longer than usual for her terms. I just love this! I am going to use it as a island, I think.

I think the top was originally this sweet lemon yellow ( photos do not do it justice), and I assumed the pattern on top was original, but when I got to cleaning it, I noticed that it is raised, like paint…..

It is the identical color that the person painted the legs with too….but they could have gotten a paint match….

Sadly, the paint job on the legs is truly sad, apparently the person hadn’t heard of painter’s tape….but I think I can fix it if I can get a paint match, or at least close…..

ANd the top only has one bad chip, and I like the “vintage” feel ot it!

Heck, by looking at this, maybe the top was originally red?????

Anyhow, this is the “feel” I want in my kitchen, I am going to be swapping kitchen table and putting in a smaller round red one, so this has more room…..look at the fun handle! It is metal…..

This is probably bits and pieces of different pieces of furniture but I just love it! It is only 25 inches long by 39 1/2 inches wide……can you imagine eating on a table that small with four people? It was a lot simpler back then, no need to keep getting more and more or bigger and bigger….a lesson I think we as a country need to remember!

Fun Vintage Finds for Rednesday!

I can’t believe a whole week has gone by already!!!! Here are a few more goodies I bought while up in Wisconsin:

As you can see on the sticker, this was 49 cents and in perfect shape! A little thrift store with great prices!

The sifter was a dollar, the scoop 29 cents! I was in Nirvana!!!! LOL

Sweet little salt and pepper shakers that are red tulips!

I got these at a neighborhood thrift sale…in perfect shape! $2.00 !

This was my favorite find…I found one set but one of the lids was cracked, and then we went to another little town and I found the same set in perfect shape….these are Hazel Atlas glass.

A sweet little tablecloth full of fun vintage fruit…$5.00!

Vintage Thingie Thursday

It is always fun to link up with Suzanne on Thursdays. I have missed quite a few lately and have decided that I am going to join in more often!

I am going to show you some of the things I bought while in Wisconsin!

One of my very favorite vintage finds is 1940’s linens for the kitchen and I was very lucky this last trip!

First of all look at this wonderful apron my cousin bought for me while we were at the main antique store in downtown Eau Claire:

It is homemade and just about as colorful as you could ask for!

A few days later we were at another sweet store and I found these towels, for just $2.50 each….

When I got them home, I realized that two of them matched the apron!

See how it is the same fabric????

The towels are made of that wonderful fabric they sold in the 40’s and 50’s that came by the yard, and all you had to do was cut it to the length you wanted and hem the ends…..now I see they used it for aprons and I imagine curtains too!

I can’t believe I have never seen this pattern and I found three things in one tiny town that all had the same fabric! What are the odds????

I wish I could go back in time and shop at a store that had all of these wonderful products! :)

I also picked up this sweet, colorful cookbook:

I am not sure what “Meals from the Manse” means, but when I opened it and I read the name of the lady who owned it, a Mrs. J.B. Turney, my cousin said “ Oh that was a friend of mine’s mother”! Again, what are the odds? The woman had died years ago…..a little spooky, huh?

Rednesday already? Wow!

I can't believe it is time for Rednesday already! Where did this week go????? I want it to slow down, I am having so much fun this Christmas season!

I am going to show you a wonderful vintage towel I won on Ebay this year.....I saw this and had to have it! In all my years of buying on Ebay I have never seen anything like this! I am going to find the perfect frame and have it blocked and put in the frame like a piece of needlework. It is in perfect condition, don't know if it was ever used.....

The little ladies heads on the picks coming out of the jello mold are so cute! I have a thing for jello and molds so it was just calling my name!

These cherries are just perfect!

This is going to be in my kitchen, the colors work with my Fiesta ware so well....oh and by the way...there will be no discussing the price! Honey, if you read this post....it was a REAL bargain! :)
