I’m Back and Ready for Fall !

Hello everybody! Wayne and me had a wonderful 4 days in California! We stayed in a place called Hawaiian Gardens, CA. It is 1 mile from Knott’s Berry Farm and just a few from Disneyland, but we didn’t do either! :)

We asked about a beach and were told about Seal Beach….oh my gosh what an incredible place about 7 miles down the road!

I am not going to bore you with tons of vacation photos but I have to share a few…..ok…more than a few!

This was our room, it was a La Quinta and had been built in December of 2009. It was spotless and fresh and very very nice. Not to mention only 65.00 a night! We were right down the street to just about everything! Next time you go to Southern Cal with the kids, you might think of calling this place.

So, the first night…..

Seal Beach at dusk, we walked down the pier and there was Ruby’s!

we had a great meal, with Kobe hamburgers…

do I look tired? No…not al all! 6 hours in the car was not fun!

These made up for it tho…..:)

The next day we went back down and shopped a little on their Main Street…..and ate at a place called Woody’s.

Ruby’s was at the end of this pier.

It was cold! Even the birds were hunkered down….

These wonderful trees were along the house that backed up to the beach, I had to take a few shots of them and the sweet little cottages, probably worth a million or more!

Does anyone know what these are????? The flowers are huge and beautiful!!!!!!

It was so wonderful, even the “modest” neighborhoods" way away from the beaches were neat as a pin and very well taken care of through most of the cities…..well…this is all for now, I have laundry to do! California, here we come!!!!!!!

The dog and house sitter has arrived….the bags are packed and the car is ready!!!!! We are driving to California, we have a hotel already set up for a few nights and we haven’t got a clue what we are going to do but have fun!

We will be driving a few of these to get to places like this!

And going here…..

No Knott’s Berry Farms or Disneyland, kids aren’t coming, and besides they are all grown up! LOL

Or another reason to Move to Wisconsin when we retire for our summer home…..

My cousin Mike loves to garden….it is something he is really good at and he really does a great job! I can’t wait until he can help me with my garden….a few years down the road.

Mike and Linda took me to the sweetest little Nursery, it was on a street corner in a residential neighborhood!

This is the sweet lady who runs it…

They had two smaller greenhouses and these wonderful vintage signs were on the fronts:

I wanted to buy the signs!!!!!

I bought some OLD’S morning glory seeds.

I went inside one of the greenhouses and it was just wonderful how beautiful these baskets and flowers were!!!!

This was the first one, a lot of 6 packs and such. Then I went into the next one….on my gosh!

I know they are just baskets but I could never grow them this beautiful in the summer here…or some of the flowers they have….I felt so… I don’t what…maybe frustrated is a good word, but it wasn’t good feeling when I left this sweet little nursery…I so want to be there!

look at this odd greenery…isn’t that unique??? Never have seen it before…

I also took some photo of the garden next to my Aunt Rosemary’s….

Can’t grow tulips here…and I would love to have them!

There used to be a white picket fence between the properties when I was little, all that is left of that is this GREAT gate and arbor!

Little pieces of my past are so fun to see again!

Oh, and you see this house?????

This could end up being our summer home someday….can’t you just see all of those lovely flowers in the front…and side and back….

but that is another post for another day….:)
