Birthday Goodies !

I wanted to share some of the fun items I got for my birthday….on the actual day Wayne and me went “thrifting” at my favorite thrift shops here in Mesa. I was looking for a rotating spice rack that held round bottles….and this is what I found:

spice rack for crafts jars It was three dollars less 40%….can’t beat that! I want to paint it red! But it didn’t come with bottles…so on to the next stop…and I found two acrylic trays with 20 bottles each ( $5.00 each) and there were all the bottles with each tray!

From the side as if they were hanging on the wall…

glass jars for crafts I had to wash the lids after taking off the white labels, they came off quickly and there were shaker tops underneath the lids….perfect! I want these bottles for my glitter and beads and such so they are out where I can see them, I forget I have them otherwise…..now I am not sure which older I will use…but I have plenty of bottles and nice holders either way…:)

This gift was especially made for me by my friend Meri, she has become the queen of shadow boxes! This one has two of my very favorite things….horses and cherries! Perfect colors too!

IMG_2666Aren’t these boots just the cutest???? And a sweet palomino foal! Check out Meri’s boxes at her Etsy site:

And last but definitely not least…..I LOVE Cath Kidston but can’t even begin to think of affording her kitchen items! If she would just open some stores here in the states! The difference in the pound and the dollar is too high right now and shipping is so expensive! But I found these at a Home Goods in Mesa……and Wayne bought them for me yesterday! :):) They could be from Cath herself!

IMG_2701 Aren’t these so cute???? I love the shape of the teapot…

IMG_2703 and look at the gingham on the top!

And I love the flowers inside the cups….

I know quite a few of you have gotten plates, bowls and three tired platters, but I had not seen this teapot! So happy with this, it will go with some of my Fiesta!

Along with these goodies I also had a few wonderful meals, got a cute reproduction vintage horse game ( Thank you Linnie) and had a great birthday month!

Thanks for stoppin’ by and please don’t for get about the Easter Tag Swap…..it is explained in the post below this one! :)

Birthday invite png with writing_edited-1

That’s right ! It is my birthday and I am going to have a giveaway!!!!!

Leave a comment on this post and on Sunday at 7:00 MST and I will pick a winner!!!!

I love parties! Especially birthday ones…..

birthday-party

Do you remember when you were a child how special those days were? It was always cold, so my parties were always inside,

scan0006

Don’t remember this one…:):) Already the "lazy"eye is showing....

scan0004 I am in the high chair, the kid on the far right is my brother Brad, the rest were neighbors….love the wallpaper , this was our “larger” of the two eating areas in the house! LOL This probably was Brad’s birthday party, he was born a week to the day before me…just 6 years earlier…

scan0007

I am three years old here…don’t look too happy….:) I sure was cute though ! LOL

scan0005

Four years old here, the buggy was a pretty lawn green and I had it for years!!!!

1959 and I really am cross eyed….I had surgery for it shortly after this, this couch was a shiny, ugly brown….Yuk! The girl on the far left was a neighbor named Patty, I just found her on Facebook after all of these years just a few months ago. It was so fun to reminisce. The girl second from the right has already passed away, her name was Debbie and the little stinker to her right was her little sister Karen. What a brat! LOL

And here is the last of them…not sure if any were taken after this, my Mom had a lot of trouble with being ill when I was young and was on huge doses of Prednisone which caused some major depression….

1960. This one was in the basement, see my “corner store in the background? I got that from Santa the Christmas before. My Mom started cutting my hair about this point, I am the silly one with the great haircut in the plaid dress. I remember that dress, it was red, white , and back….

So thank you for stopping by to help celebrate this “mature” woman’s {nice way of saying I am old } birthday! :):) Most of you that follow my blog all have photos like this, black and white and Kodak’s…. don’t you just love looking at them once in awhile????

So don’t forget, leave a comment and you can enjoy the celebration too!

Thanks for stoppin’ by!

A Very Special Son

Yesterday was my Son Christopher’s 26th birthday. We went over to have pizza with him and his brother Bryan and Chris’ friends.

We went to Wal-Mart to get some groceries, Chris went one way and his Dad and me went another. We got what we needed and went back to get into his car and this was what was waiting for me:

IMG_1502

A beautiful bouquet of roses! He had gone into the store, bought the flowers and brought them outside so they would be there when I got back in the car. He came around and gave me a big hug and said “ I wouldn’t be here without you!”….every year he shows up on his birthday with flowers for me.

Actually every time he comes to see me he has flowers for his Mom…..

I guess his Dad and I did a few things right! :)

I can remember when Wayne and I celebrated my first birthday as a couple , he was living in California and I was here living with my folks in Arizona. The door bell rang and the prettiest two bouquets of flowers were at the door…my Mom got them and brought them in and said “ Oh look, Wayne got you flowers! But when I went to look at the cards, one was for my Mom! She was so surprised!!! He thanked her for having me!!!!! I will never forget the look on her face….Wayne only got to send her flowers for two years, but both times were so special for her and me!!!!

I think that is where my sons get their sweet hearts…..I am surrounded by them! :)

Oh boy! Presents!

Today I am so excited! I have been so busy with the room, that I forgot to introduce you to my latest pet!

May I introduce you to : SISSY!

I have loved this sweet blue gingham elephant ever since Meri made her.....When she put her on Etsy, I was so sad.....but then, Meri came to see me on my birthday and she had Sissy with her! HAPPY DANCE!!!! Have you ever seen anything so cute?????? She is so special to me! With her sweet little hat and big yellow bow....she is a very happy girl! She has a special spot in my room.....

THANK YOU SO MUCH MERI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Then, Meri was going to come by today and we were going to finish the last of the organizing, but she feels punky today so I told her not to worry, but she said she had something for me anyhow and would come by for a minute....This is what she had!

Another sweet Valentine/Birthday gift! Since I have the bad arthritis in my hands, I have trouble gripping things so she went out and got me a wonderful think soft gripped X-acto knife! Along with the Martha Stewart Tweezers to help pick up those little tine things! Along with some embossing tools too!

She is such a good friend...she takes really good care of me!

Then yesterday this sweet package showed up on my box from Joyce at Scrap for Joy.....she had read my post about the Necco wafers and she found these for me! With one of her wonderful hand made Valentines!

One package of each! Why this photo refuses to load the right direction, I have no clue...but you get the idea! Thank you so much Joyce for thinking of me!

And remember I told you I had gotten a very sweet box from Elizabeth at Creative Breathing???? Well, this is what was inside.......

That's right a couple of Elizabeth's wonderful Valentine birdies! Their beaks had come off, but I will just glue them back on! They are going to be perfect sitting on my desk, while I get busy!

Thank you Elizabeth, they were a wonderful surprise!!!!!
I feel so blessed to have people out there that think of me......it makes me feel very special!
I hope everyone has a great weekend!
