Maya at 6 months old
Out of the blue last night, Maya was so happy to see us, as we had been gone for half a day and she slipped on the floor even though she was on a rug and blew out her good hind leg….just like that….she slept with us last night, first time in 7 months, and we cuddled a lot…..I have a wonderful vet that made it as painless for us as possible, he says this happens about 60% of the time when one knee goes the other follows. I have lost my best friend….. I can hardly breathe right now the pain is so severe……and the silence is deafening…..
Forever and a day my sweet girl….I will love you forever and a day…..thank you for loving me too! I know you are running and playing and having a wonderful time with Scott, I am sure he was so happy to see you!

ReplyDeleteMy heart skipped a beat when I read your post as I know that feeling all to well. I lost my kitty (Perri Winkleman) and my doggy (Emily Ann) last July within three weeks of each other. I'm sending prayers your way as I know how hard it is, they are family and the hurt is such an aching hurt. Best thing our family did was get another little puppy one month later, little Lucy our 6 pound Malchi, 1/2 Maltese and 1/2 Chihuahua, best thing EVER for making our house a home again. My thoughts are with you, hang in there, take care.

Sandy - I just started following your blog and my heart goes out to you -- I know how you feel - we lost our first dog in 2009 and I can still remember the pain and emptiness. Take care of yourself.

I've been avoiding this post all day but finally decided it was time to give Maya's farewell post the attention it deserves. This was such a sweet tribute, Sandy. My heart goes out to you. ReplyDeleteOH Sandy... there are no words.. Ive been where you are a few too many times. Im soooo sorry you have to suffer through having such a broken heart. the sorrow and the weakness that comes with it are almost unbearable. But I also know that by the grace of god, we get through it. You can take some comfort in knowing that Maya was in a wonderful home and couldnt have been more loved or better cared for. She knew that and I'm sure she is thankful to you.

I cherish my spoiled pupsters, even though I cannot break Charlie Ross of peeing in the house and Abi from yapping every time the phone rings. I am so sorry Sandy!! You know that I know that pain all to well. Just know that you loved her and gave her the best life possible. I will not lie and say that time helps because I think about Pebbles and shed tears several times a week! Oh, I am so sorry to hear about your loss. We lost our 14 year old dog in July and it was incredibly difficult. We knew it was coming, but there is no way to prepare.

and it still hurts, it gets better but I still miss her and always will.
She passed in her sleep and for that I am so very grateful. She went to her maker like a little bird, all soft and no suffering.
