(You know, those round spiky balls.) Another delight for kids to throw at each other. I'm surprised they don't throw them more often, now that I think about it. Nice catching up with you and your new treasures!Sweet Bee Cottagehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12621819781979605687noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2634971010185114820.post-81175802559165897632012-11-03T07:25:54.218-07:002012-11-03T07:25:54.218-07:00Isn't it odd how a gorgeous flower will turn i...Isn't it odd how a gorgeous flower will turn into an ugly seed head....Smiles...ReneeMy Vintage Mendinghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04367574057347101825noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2634971010185114820.post-60840518711602290242012-11-02T21:34:35.842-07:002012-11-02T21:34:35.842-07:00We have the magnolia tree in our yard, the flowers...We have the magnolia tree in our yard, the flowers are beautiful when bloomed, and I actually love the pods, the deep red seeds are lovely...I recently got a picture of one on the grass...which I will probably insert in one of my posts. They can be very nice when transformed in an arrangement of dried flowers and other natural items.Daphnehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14527315218500576087noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2634971010185114820.post-82401604183427676022012-11-02T15:22:02.493-07:002012-11-02T15:22:02.493-07:00Thanks! As a child in the 40's we had a huge magnolia tree in our front yard in Sacramento, CA. My dad was forever cussing it for dropping these pods and the leaves that shed at all times of the year, one messy tree. When it’s on the tree the seeds are a pretty bright red. Then they fall off & shrivel up and look like that! Yucky right! I’ve never tried it but I’ve heard of people spray painting them gold and using for filler in potpourri bowl.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17445448350879750252noreply@blogger.com
